Configure your account profile
The Account Profile tab provides general information about your organization.

Company description
Describe your organization in 2–4 sentences.
Include:
What your company does
Your core products or services
Your primary customers
Sola uses this information to better understand your business and provide more relevant responses.
Industry
Select the industry that best describes your organization.
This gives Sola additional context about your business and helps it tailor its responses.
Note: After entering the company description and selecting the industry, click “Save changes”.
Terminology & preferences
Tell Sola which words your organization prefers.
For example:
Say “clients”, not “customers”
Say “team members”, not “employees”
You can define up to 10 terminology pairs.
After adding a terminology pair, click Add pair to save it and continue adding more. When you’re finished, click Save changes.
Note: Company description and Industry are required fields, so you can’t save terminology preferences until you add them.
Sensitive topics to avoid
Enter a comma-separated list of topics that Sola should avoid discussing.
Examples include:
Politics
Religion
Salary comparisons
Legal advice
Competitor recommendations
After adding sensitive topics to avoid, click Save changes.
Note: Company description and Industry are required fields, so you can’t save a list of sensitive topics to avoid until you add them.
Configure company data
The Company Data tab lets you explain what each HRIS field means and how Sola should use it.
Instead of simply reading field names such as Department, Job Function, or Country, Sola can understand what those fields represent in your organization.
Each HRIS field contains two configurable sections.
Context
Use Context to explain what the field represents.
Describe:
What information the field contains
What the values mean
Any formatting or conventions used
Anything unique about how your organization uses the field
This gives Sola a better understanding of your HRIS data.
Tell Sola how to use this
Use this section to explain how Sola should interpret the field when answering questions.
For example, you might tell Sola to:
Use Country for location-based questions
Use Department when grouping employees
Ignore a field unless specifically requested
Avoid making assumptions beyond the information stored in the field
These instructions help Sola answer consistently and reduce incorrect inferences.
Example
For a Country field you might explain that it contains each employee's work location, then instruct Sola to use it when answering questions about geographic distribution, regional reporting, or compliance requirements.
Generate context with AI
Don't want to write everything yourself?
Click Generate with AI to automatically create both the field description and usage guidance.
You can review and edit the generated content before saving it.
Configure competencies
The Competencies tab works the same way as Company Data, but applies to competencies instead of HRIS fields.
For each competency, you can define:
What the competency measures
What high and low scores represent
How Sola should interpret the competency when answering questions
Any organization-specific guidance you want Sola to follow
You can also use Generate with AI to create descriptions and guidance automatically.
Note: You don’t have to add context for the system default competencies, as that will already be added by default—only for custom competencies on your account.
Best practices
Write all context in English for the best results.
Be specific when describing HRIS fields and competencies.
Explain how fields should be interpreted, not just what they're called.
Review AI-generated content before saving it.
Update your context whenever your HRIS structure or competency framework changes.
FAQs
Why should I configure Company Data?
Without additional context, Sola only knows the field names and values. Adding context helps Sola understand what those values actually represent in your organization, leading to more accurate responses.
What is the difference between "Context" and "Tell Sola how to use this"?
Context explains what the field contains.
Tell Sola how to use this explains how Sola should use that information when answering questions.
Can I edit AI-generated content?
Yes. AI-generated content is only a starting point. You can modify it before saving or update it later at any time.
Does Sola always follow these instructions?
Yes. Sola uses your configured context whenever it answers questions related to your HRIS fields, competencies, or organization. This helps ensure consistent behavior and reduces incorrect assumptions.
Do I have to configure every HRIS field?
No. However, adding context for the fields your users ask about most often will significantly improve the quality and consistency of Sola's responses.
