What is a project?

A project is a way to organize your workflow on the platform. Projects allow you to segment different groups of participants and view them in one place.

How to add a new project

To add a new project, select “+ Add new project” in the projects tab. Give your project a name, and add users to the project (you can skip this step if you want). In the end, set your project’s visibility.

There are three types of project visibility:

  • private projects: only project creator, project owner and account owner can access them

  • restricted projects (available only to enterprise account with active HRIS integration): only project creator and admins with the same UAC filter can access the project (for example, if your UAC filter is set to Germany, only other admins from Germany will be able to see your project)

  • global projects: visible to all admins


Note: If you can’t add new projects in your account, contact us to turn this feature on.


How to add someone to a project

To add users to a project, go to the “Users” tab inside a project and select “+Add users”. Select the users you want to add to the project and click “Add” to finish.

Another way you can add someone to a project is from the “All Users” tab.

Click on the user you want to add to the project (you can also add multiple users at once), click on the three dots in the bottom right corner, and select “Add user(s) to a project”. Choose the project and click “Add”.


Note: Users can be a part of multiple projects.


How to remove someone from a project

To remove a user(s) from a project, go inside that project, go to “Users” tab, select the user(s) you want to remove, click on the three dots, select “Remove user(s) from project” and click “Yes” to confirm.

How to edit your project

After you’ve created your project, you can edit it later by going to the “Settings” tab. Here you can change the project name, edit project owner, add or remove users, and change projects access controls. You can also delete your project here.

If you have a project(s) that you want to keep on top of your project list, you can click on the “star” button inside that project to pin them on top for easier access.

FAQ

What is the difference between tags and projects?

Both Projects and Tags are used to organize and manage users. Users can belong to multiple projects and be assigned multiple tags, and removing them from such does not delete any data. Projects can be used as a way of organizing users into particular campaigns or cohorts, while tags allow for a more nuanced level of organization.

For example, you are managing a development program for your High Potential employees that sit across the business. You could create a project called “High Potential” and use tags to further organize these high-potential employees based on what department or region they are in. This would allow you to first, quickly see all your high-potential employees, and second, allow comparisons across the different departments or regions.
