Overview of the Engagement Diagnostic
Updated over a week ago

The Engagement diagnostic is an efficient and accurate measure of employee engagement, designed to give users, teams, and organizations deep insights into the emotional investment and connection individuals have with their work and the organization.

This assessment is particularly useful for understanding how valued and inspired employees feel in their roles, the depth of their emotional and professional connection to the organization, and their overall sense of belonging within the workplace culture. It measures their long-term commitment to the organization, highlighting how dedicated they are to contributing to the company's success and staying with the organization over time. Additionally, it assesses employees' willingness to recommend the organization as a great place to work, providing insights into their advocacy and overall satisfaction.

While the Engagement Diagnostic does not replace a full engagement survey, it serves as a quick and effective add-on measure that can uncover valuable insights into the underlying drivers of engagement or lack thereof. This quick assessment can pinpoint specific areas where employees feel disconnected or unappreciated, allowing for targeted interventions and strategies to enhance engagement.

The Engagement Diagnostic can be used independently or in conjunction with other Deeper Signals assessments, such as the Core Values Diagnostic or the Core Drivers Diagnostic, to provide a comprehensive view of employee satisfaction and productivity. By combining these tools, organizations can gain a holistic understanding of their workforce, identifying both strengths and areas for improvement. This enables them to create a more engaged, motivated, and productive work environment.

Assessment Scope

The Engagement Diagnostic is designed to measure critical elements of employee engagement, including emotional commitment, job satisfaction, teamwork dynamics, career growth opportunities, recognition, and workplace culture. Each item is crafted to be clear, concise, and actionable, ensuring accurate capture of engagement levels.

The Engagement Diagnostic contains five subscales:

  • Meaning: The extent to which employees find their work meaningful and purposeful.

  • Commitment: The level of dedication employees have towards their organization and its goals.

  • Advocacy: The willingness of employees to recommend their organization as a great place to work.

  • Discretionary Effort: The extent to which employees are willing to go above and beyond in their roles, contributing extra effort beyond the basic job requirements.

  • Recognition: The degree to which employees feel valued and appreciated for their contributions.

The Engagement Diagnostic allows for greater nuance and understanding of the factors that drive an individual's engagement with their work and organization.

The Engagement Diagnostic sets itself apart from other engagement assessments with its concise format, allowing users to complete the diagnostic in a brief period. The unique, conversational language improves accessibility and provides an engaging user experience. More importantly, this unique experience is delivered without compromising the scientific robustness of the tool.
