The Career Interests Diagnostic was developed using a rigorous scientific methodology, leveraging data from numerous working adults and psychometric methodologies. Understand the science

This assessment measures the RIASEC model, which is also used in O*NET, helping people understand their career interests and preferences. This model measures critical aspects of career preferences, such as practical skills, analytical thinking, creativity, social interactions, leadership qualities, and organizational skills.

The Six RIASEC Types:

  • Realistic (R): Practical, hands-on, mechanical; e.g., engineer, carpenter.

  • Investigative (I): Analytical, curious, intellectual; e.g., scientist, researcher.

  • Artistic (A): Creative, expressive, original; e.g., artist, writer.

  • Social (S): Helping, teaching, nurturing; e.g., teacher, nurse.

  • Enterprising (E): Persuasive, leadership-oriented, ambitious; e.g., manager, lawyer.

  • Conventional (C): Organized, detail-oriented, practical; e.g., accountant, librarian.

Assessment scope

The Career Interests Diagnostic contains six dimensions:

  • Builder: The tendency to be practical and hands-on.

  • Helper: The tendency to be supportive and nurturing.

  • Curious Thinker: The tendency to be investigative and analytical.

  • Creator: The tendency to be artistic and innovative.

  • Leader: The tendency to be persuasive and dominant.

  • Operator: The tendency to be realistic and methodical.

In addition to these six dimensions, the Career Interests Diagnostic provides detailed insights into each individual's unique profile. This allows for greater nuance and understanding of an individual’s career dispositions.
